During happy hour, someone directly asked, interrupting us in mid-conversation, “Are you engaged?”<\/p>\n
I hesitated, not exactly sure how to respond. For a single halting moment, I analyzed his motivations. His face reflected curiosity\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbut otherwise it was devoid of any other clue. It wasn’t intended to cause displeasure. There was a little of trying to cause discomfort.<\/p>\n
Eventually, I relented and just honestly said, “No.”<\/p>\n
My personal biases did surface\u00e2\u20ac\u201dmy slight envy of those<\/i> couples, but yet the same adage remains. We don’t need to be married<\/i> to show commitment.<\/p>\n
And yet…what about personal questions?<\/p>\n
There are two superhero powers I would like to have.<\/p>\n
1. To read minds
