Although technically not as pummeling as last year, but maybe it was.<\/p>\n<li>When I was rolled into surgery<\/li>\n<li>When before surgery I was trying to insist that I would not lose memory of that moment<\/li>\n<li>When I drove Chris to the ER in the middle of the night<\/li>\n<li>When I sat next to him at the ER and ICU for two nights, 3 day\/li>\n<li>Eating horrible hospital pureed food\n<li>Mealtrain for surgery recovery<\/li>\n<li>How people sent messages of care and concern after that first cancer treatment<\/li>\n<li>The pride I still had about writing the FAQ of my diagnosis and treatment<\/li>\n<li>The shock and relief after learning that I didn&#8217;t need chemo at all<\/li>\n<li>The surprise that I had realizing that I could just return back to normal life<\/li>\n<li>But also realizing that I had to return all the awkwardness of work (but the joy of feeling valued)<\/li>\n<li>Telling everyone this phrase &#8220;every September for the last three years, I was pregnant&#8230;&#8221; in response to a milestones icebreaker<\/li>\n<li>Receiving the mealtrain after Chris returned from the hospital<\/li>\n<li>The amazing amount of time that I spent onm my phone after the surgery during recovery<\/li>\n<li>The moment that I walked as exercise after surgery but was surprised that I couldn&#8217;t walk that much<\/li>\n<li>Going to AWP and seeing sooooo many friends and acquaintances who became friends<\/li>\n<li>The LA trips&#8230;that somehow became more comfortable because I reconnected with a grad school friend, went to a reading club, went to a book club, feeling like I found a community of my own in a temporary home<\/li>\n<li>The visit to Arizona that was so ridiculously hot but spent time with my sister and nephew<\/li>\n<li>Doing the 5 minute Ignite pecha kucha talk that encompassed 5 years of life about all those horrible negative events and what it meant to me<\/li>\n<li>But getting annoyed by some of the conversations afterwards<\/li>\n<li>Being so surprised by friends and family&#8217;s generosity especially during mealtrain and those just showed up<\/li>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2025 in five minutes.
