My favorite genre of music? Soundtracks. Last year around this time, I was obsessed with the LOTR soundtracks. Not because I loved the movies (which I did of course), but it was how it could transport me to another place. A blink and just like that you\’re in Hobbiton or Lotholorien. Right now, I feel like I am living a life without drama unlike my undergrad years. So soundtracks are my escape to live another life for just a moment. The life of being a killer on the run or the life os a trapper prisioner.
It\’s great that those escapes are only temporary. At one point, I thought it would be great to work at CTU. But hey, that was a relapse into a teenager\’s fantasy of glamourous stressful work.
Recently, I discovered the Collateral soundtrack. The movie is of course about a LA cabbie that has been hired to drive a killer for hire around town. The music on the soundtrack is a successful attempt of the movie\’s theme of indifference. Somewhat. Each track is different. Distinct. Like each person that was…killed in the movie. And yet they were all connected by some small thread of involvement.
It also felt like switching radio stations in the middle of the night.
Ok, it\’s time to buy an ipod.
ooo… LOTR soundtrack. mmmm.
