  1. You pay more, you pay less.
Actually, I can\’t tell you cuz I\’ve been cutting my own hair for the past 6-7 years.

  2. From the stylist\’s perspective, in some cases, it\’s about how much training they\’ve had / how many clients they\’ve successfully brought in for the company.

Think about it this way. I could pay a group of MHCI student to do a Heuristic Evaluation on my website, or I could bay Jakob Nielsen & associates 100 times more. Is it worth it? Some people say yes, some people say no. But I think it\’s the same fundamental question.

  3. mmm, a $60 haircut takes an hour, a $12 takes 15 minutes.

the $60 comes with styling, like layering, which takes time.

    shampooing, drying, blowdrying, massage…

i\’ve paid $200 for a haircut and color before. it took almost 3 hours, and involved 3 people.

  4. I have gotten neither $60 nor $12 haircuts, but I will say that the Chinatown haircut of $28 is probably as good (if not better) than the $50 one I got on Newbury street (well I lied. I used a student coupon so it was only $35). BUT, they offered me juice/wine free of charge at the Newbury place =P

  5. Just get a nice clipper from Costco and you\’re good to go.

    Unless you\’re a girl :-O
