I am in a pissy mood right now. My mom called and was asking whether I went to my grandmother\’s apartment last weekend (which I didn\’t). Then she suddenly mentioned that it was okay that I lost the other apartment, so I could start looking for another one.
And that was what made my blood boil. Last year, I was picky about my apartment and therefore I almost couldn\’t find a place until a month before I was supposed to move in for the new semester. My parents don\’t understand that it\’s almost next to impossible to find a decent apartment in Berkeley plus an apartment that is close to the campus. Currently the apartment that I am living right now…is run-down. Cold in the winter. Poor electricity. My friends commented that it looked ghetto. The stove barely lights up (we have to use a match). Additionally the shower isn\’t that powerful and it drips. The toilet has the tendency to overflow. The bathtub is dirty and we always use our slippers to take showers. Additionally my neighbors downstairs are loud (I can hear their music, their AOL welcome greeting, and them with LOUD SEX). Then the windows aren\’t locked and they open by themselves during the night. There\’s no such thing as privacy in this apartment. Doors aren\’t real. The bathroom door…well I don\’t even know if it has a real lock. And the front door of the entire building isn\’t secure (remember this?). Great.
And the other place, I lost just because my parents didn\’t want to rent it during the summer. However, it is essential that I rent during the summer otherwise I wouldn\’t get it. I am still mad that HE ditched me. What would have been better is if he had consulted me before giving the apartment to his friend. Great great great.
So then I got infuriated. First off, the fact that I wasn\’t allowed to rent during the summer. Secondly, the fact that we can afford most of the places around here. Thirdly, the fact that I am not allowed to room with a male roommate (I would assume that most people are respectful especially all these asexual Berkeley people). Fourthly, how I always have to hesitate and say to my prospective landlords – \”I have to ask my parents.\”
Don\’t you know how much I hate saying that line?
ugh.. truly disappointing… I\’m really sorry jenn… i hope you\’ll find something even better.
;_; sucky…
