Well Amazon was not being nice when they spammed all its users asking for help with their crisis. So it seemed like a good tactic, but don\’t spam people! So here\’s the rub: Supposedly the used books marketplace on amazon takes money that should belong to the authors and publishers. Whatever, I liked getting my used textbooks. Read about it here. TSk, the books were used!

Undecided.

So I made the effort to see Aaron\’s apartment today and I was surprised by how nice it was. Well better than what I expected. And now I am undecided of whether I should stay in my rundown apartment (since my two roommates seem to be moving out) or move there. And yes, if you didn\’t know, I had been thinking of moving out for awhile, but the only reason I want to stay here…is because I want to wake up five minutes before class. Yeah I am so just unlike a girl, am I not?

  • and my parents are against the thought of living with a male roommate…grrrr
  • If anybody likes his place…go ahead and contact Aaron. I am sure he\’s looking for you already!

So I checked my referrals, as I always do every day and I am surprised to suddenly be getting a hits from Daynah\’s Cam Portal. Turns out that she added me recently. She must have figured out that I stalked that cam portal nearly every day. Thank you Daynah! :D Must be because I did the copycam smilie project (because I thought it was sooo cute!).

Speaking of which, here\’s my rendition (Jen was the one who was giving out spiked lemonade out on Sproul Plaza–spiked because Xing still felt woozy two days after drinking it and also she gave out that handy dandy bookmark below…as you can tell, her gimmick is the smilie face. Oh and no, I didn\’t vote. Shame on me?):

Oh and as for my webcam picture…it hasn\’t been updated for a month (before it was updated every other day), because:
    1. I am too lazy.
    2. Naim likes that picture.
    3. Lydia says that I look good…haha, which implies that I don\’t look good normally?
    4. Because the COMPAQ broke before spring break, my newly built computer doesn\’t have the settings that I would like for a good webcam picture
    5. Not enough light comes into the apartment
    6. Naim likes that picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    7. No wait…Naim <3s that picture!!!

This week\’s Friday Five! Yes, I like to write complete answers…so that\’s why I am in the top fifty rather than the top ten. :p

    1. What is your favorite restaurant and why?
Il Fornaio. I don\’t know what I like the most about it, but the fact that it\’s italian and pretty moderately priced attracts me to it. I admit though I went there for my first date, so it has some sentimental value to me. The best dish to try is…well simply every single dessert! MMMMmmmmmm!

    2. What fast food restaurant are you partial to?
Anything that feeds me. Seriously though, I like Bongo Burger here in Berkeley. There\’s three scattered around campus. And there\’s one just a minute away from my apartment. :D Their fries are soooo good! SALTY and HOT! Just like the way I like them! :)

    3. What are your standards and rules for tipping?
Usually I just take ten percent of the tip. But I discovered recently…it\’s supposed to be more than that. If the waiter/waitress was mean to me, obviously lower tip. Last year, Alan was about to send me his program for computing tip on his palm. The program asked you whether the server did this or that…and the total bill and calculated the tip. BLAH. I have always wondered about this, since I have been getting contradicting responses. If I pay for tip by credit card, is that bad? The servers don\’t get the tip until later? GAH! So confusing. Or is it better, because in the end, it doesn\’t matter?

    4. Do you usually order an appetizer and/or dessert?
If it\’s one of those sampler appetizer, I would order it if I get to share with the entire table. As for desserts, I would order it if reviews highly recommend it. And…if everybody was for it. I was really annoyed on Valentine\’s Day when my friends balked at ordering dessert. Food critics had specifically recommended the desserts. Always order the Italian desserts. They are sooo good! :D

    5. What do you usually order to drink at a restaurant?
Because I am Chinese (AND FRUGAL), I usually order water. Tap water, that is. But if I decide to splurge, I always go for fresh lemonade. I am so addicted to that stuff. If I had to choose a soft drink, I would…well choose Sierra Mist…or root beer…or Coke/Pepsi…or 7up/Sprite. And NO, I DO NOT DRINK!!!

    WALTER? WHO ARE YOU?

Someone in the Evans Microcomputer Facility? Hmmm?

If this happens again (when someone doesn\’t identify themselves clearly, I am just going to attach the ip address to the sms. Or for that matter, make people login. :p

I feel like a dictator now.

Remember how the Pro-Palestian Rally disrupted my class yesterday? Here\’s the full story. I was surprised when a group of people came into the lecture hall asking us to join their protest, \”because the rest of Wheeler hall is unoccupied\”. No wonder I heard stomping, running and screaming. Professor Presti was pretty cool about it and kept discussing how people could have phantom arms even if they were amputated years before. Imagine seeing a weird rendition of an amputated arm when you rush into the auditorium trying to get people to protest. Like most Berkeley students, unfortunately I am part of the uncaring, stop-bothering-me-because-i-don\’t-care group

My day list? Naaah…that I means I have to be fair to everybody so I am just going to leave that part out. ;)

  • embarrased that I didn\’t know how to mask and shift my bits in lab
  • fortunately I had a smart (FRESH MEAT) partner
  • convinced my partner to work with me on the next CS project
  • went to Eddie the TA\’s office hours for EE
  • we hear screaming and yelling during MCB lecture
  • Palestian protest — \”FREE FREE PALESTINE\” — outside the lecture hall
  • a few people try to go into the lecture hall to get all the indifferent, could-care-less-about-the-world science majors to protest
  • my roommate from last year attempts to get me to vote for someone…someone #10
  • I get free candy from someone running for vice prez, to whom I was about to scream \”I DON\’T TAKE CANDY FROM STRANGERS!\”
  • I get lemonade from someone running for president
  • Attempt to go to Professor\’s OH for ee, but he never shows up. I ask Adonis and Eddie the TAs my questions. They complain about how Prof. White is disorganized and how he was good…back in the day.
  • Karen and I attempt to install Apache on our OCF account w/o any success
  • I go shopping (for what? I can\’t tell you).
  • Palestian protest still going on
  • TALK to some people…that includes you and you and you
  • c00kie break
  • Procrastinate
  • write my half-page paper topic proposal for American Studies (I am planning to write about how popular culture is influential on proms)
  • Head to Cory Hall in order to copy down the homework solutions and sneak in after a person who has a cardkey.
  • Karen arrives finally at 10 pm and we attempt to install Apache on my computer. Then we get distracted by other…stuff.
  • Prep my one page of notes for tomorrow\’ midterm
  • eat c00kie
  • *ZONK*
  • Maybe it\’s me, but this is the weirdest layout ever. But it\’s so good too! I wouldn\’t ever make a layout based on that once in a month idea, but she did it well. But still…to think about the inspiration!

I mean…how many girls usually tell you when you\’re on it?
