I am back in the pitts. After spending the majority of my spring break in NYC–a true urban setting, I feel so deprived and sad coming back. It\’s not just the fact that the next few months mean work. It\’s also the fact that I won\’t get a chance to spend time with these people again. The feeling of freedom and the happiness that can come just from eating a slice of cheesecake.

And the smiles posed for the camera. Where oh where are they now?

Freezing weather in NYC is not great. That\’s about the only thing about the city I don\’t like. Although talking to a second year Columbia grad student, I haven\’t experienced the worst part of the city–the true behavior of a New Yorker.

Just when I thought I was going to move to NYC after finishing my masters, I experienced a bad snowstorm today that made me rethink my decision. Because I didn\’t want to spend $100 on a Broadway Show, I was left with nothing to do after dinner in Times Square. I wandered around the Square with Shipra going through Toys R Us and Virgin Megastore. Only to avoid the wind and the snow. When I dropped off Shipra to see Julius Caesar (with Denzel Washington starring!), I fought my way back to the subway. Couple of times, I almost lost my footing. At one point, I was passing the theater that was showing previews of the show Spamalot…and I heard those really well-dressed ladies screaming. Cute. Considering that I loved NYC, this is indication that I am a true urbanite. Even though I love having a car (aka independence), I would prefer being able to take public transportation whereever I wanted. Cabbing isn\’t that bad either.

Instead of exploring midtown, I ended up walking quickly through some stores near the hotel–Macy\’s and Daffy\’s. Then I realized that I didn\’t want to spend that kind of money in NYC.

I got a fortune cookie today that said Accept the next proposition made to you. Do I?

I went to the moma today, which awesome by the way. And I was able to finish all 6 floors, 2 phone calls (about 10 minutes each)…in all about 2.5 hours. :)

\”I AM BLOGGING THIS.\”

I got into an exclusive club and left about 45 minutes later. :)

Edit:
And now I present a picture of us at the Orchid Restaurant in Cheslea.

My spring break has begun and now I am in NYC, using free wireless internet!

This is so awesome, being in a city I haven\’t visited for 12 years. When we first entered the city (with me driving), we encountered a guy swearing in the middle of the street. Yelling. Then I saw a fire engine trying to cut through traffic with its sirens blaring but then it decided that it oculdn\’t fight the load of cars.

Someone I know called this city overwhelming. I call it lively.

I am mad at myself that I forgot my battery charger for my camera. Because this is nearly my livelihood. I think I am going to plunk $50 somewhere to get another charger.
