OMG, I got accepted into the_reviewers. Now I just want to make sure I don\’t turn into a LJ whore like Mikkee. The question is…would I really become a critical, judgemental reviewer if I started grading?
Monthly Archives: September 2003
On Friday, I had to create profiles for my coworkers to put on our bulletin board (you know, for marketing). My coworker and I had decided thtat we would create a mystery person profile.
And I wrote this:
turn-ons: Las Vegas buffets
turn-offs: hot guys AND hot girls
I thought that was a good joke. But my coworker did not get it at all. Is it just me?!
In other news, I have decided to switch from my clunky blue Nokia 3390 to a sleek silver color-screen Motorola 720! It\’s a cellphone for those who don\’t know.
I DID SOMETHING RASH YESTERDAY.
For about a week, I had been tempted to post at LJ community of the_reviewers which is similar to nonuglies but for journals. Ever since LJ laid the smack down on NU, graders tended to be more nicer and not as insulting.
And I just posted my livejournal on it late yesterday night, just to see what happens. And I sat there for an hour wondering why nobody was reviewing it (I guess reviwers nowadays do sleep!).
And for the majority of the day, I was regretting posting it. More worried that people (in the days of NU) would flood my livejournal with nasty comments. Plus, I was worried that my LJ would come off as being whiny and boy-obsessed (which truly I am not!). Also, sometimes when I read my own journal, it does seem that I think too much and worry too much. But that\’s what a journal is for. Why write when you don\’t have problems?!
The problem is unlike other LJers is that I only devote my deeper thought entries to my livejournal whereas I post my more superficial, amusing, writing-for-an-audience type things here.
But I am surprised that some people did like it. I would like to thank stacee for my wonderful livejournal which was my xmas present! :D
So often…so very often, you remembered that you got very pissed off at someone, but months later, you don\’t remember what started it all.
The thing that worries me about going to school out in the midwest is how people react when the school wins/loses a game. Despite the fact that Berkeley students tore down the goal post and carried it to Sproul Plaza after the Big Game…I don\’t really want to be surrounded by a student body who is willing to set fire to buildings, break store windows, wreck havoc, a pseudo-Mardi Gra…just because of a game.
It\’s okay during a protest though! :D
There\’s this little bugger thing walking around on the bathroom floor. For the past week, there was a dead version of this bugger right next to the bathroom sink. I didn\’t really think much of it until today. I realized that the dead version is gone. While I had been getting ready to take a shower, I saw something move on the floor despite my extreme nearsightness.
Normal girls would have squealed. I, on the other hand, thought…hey, there goes bobby zooming around on his rad FEET again!
Just experienced a moderate shaking earthquake. I was trying to sleep, but was awaken by the metal clanging of the heaters throughout the apartment complex. And of course my bed shaking. Less than five seconds.
When I was 7 years old, I was standing at the top of the stairs with my sister…during the Loma Pierta quake. When the glass light hanging from the ceiling started shaking, I started dancing…cool!!!! my sister and I yelped.
I woke up at 8 am (after less than 5 hours of sleep…mind you, it was not because of my homework but because suddenly at 3 am I kept tossing and turning) by a wakeup call from my User Interfaces group.
I got ready to go in 5 minutes. AND THEN, I realized that I could not find my keys. Because time was ticking and I was supposed to be on the other side of campus in 10 minutes, I had to forfeit my desperate search. I had hoped that my roommate would be back to open the door so that I could continue my fruitless search. But to my surprise and shock, I got a voicemail message from my roommate two hours later…that she had also locked herself out.
I think my hair is very messy…now.
*gulp*
It\’s going to be a long day.
[edit] By luck, I was able to cut my long day short. I managed go through my service project without falling asleep. People who never used a computer before…have the most trouble with the mouse. HOW CAN YOU CLICK AND NOT MOVE THE MOUSE?! And magically, I was able to go through my only class of the day without falling asleep. I am sure the reason was because the lecture was about artificial intelligence in games. And I was very SHOCKED to not see Seth inhabiting the last row of the 300 person lecture hall. Then work. I saw my beloved resident climbing up the hill. I made sure to put on my sunglasses and cross to the other side of the street…and run before she noticed me. Then I called the evil manager lady to beg for forgiveness. She told me to contact the keymaster of the building. So 10 minutes later, I was standing outside the door pondering what to do when my roommate called and suggested a code. AHA. And magically, it worked and the keymaster let me in after checking the 16 year old picture on my license.
Oddly enough, once I walked into my \”room\”, I found the keys immediately.
It\’s so amazing to watch a group of Cog Sci Majors bang against the door of the 2nd floor labs (the doors of the computer labs are locked after 5 pm except to those with cardkey access, but evidently none of the 5 of us had a cardkey) in Soda at 7 pm and be ignored for a good 20 minutes. When someone finally opened the door into us, we all waltzed into the 61c room and everyone gave us a cold, curious stare.
Amy ventured to apologize for the disturbance, but commented YOU COULD HAVE OPENED THE DOOR TOO…IF YOU DIDN\’T WANT TO BE DISTURBED
I\’ll just like to mention what a long day today was.
In sum: woke up at 8:30, ran (literally this time) to class, got lost in Tolman hall (because they don\’t know how to number their rooms!), 7 minutes late, talked to a clueless TA, bought a pseudo-breakfast during my 30 minute break, went to the computer labs to work on homework, went to an interesting lecture in user interfaces, went to perception where i sat on the floor, my cellphone went off during class, called my mom back, took 22 minutes to get back to my apartment because the bus was slow, called Lisa Li of AAA who was impressed with my computer skills in July, called Food Bank and left message, went to CS discussion, cancelled the pseudo-date with Aaron (HAH), decided to not go to the GSI\’s office hours, called Tanner and my cell was being dumb, went to forty minutes of my next lecture, went back to my apartment, fell asleep for one hour, woke up with no alarm clock exactly at 5 pm, felt very disoriented, went to work, meeting, called Tanner again, see above banging against the computer labs, saw my favorite resident who is obviously trying to get attention (correct me if i am wrong SALPI who has found my webpage because i gave her link referrals), work again, called my sister, called Seth who had an instant realization about the potential of Cognitive Science majors, shinelun wrote me a friendster testimonal, got harassed by random ims such as alecky, rant to cheez, worked on homework, realized that I suddenly understood everything much better when i am NOT in soda, shower, discovered how truly ______ I am on drollery.com, finish homework, tweaking, WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, lost some hair, sleep
